Metabolic ECHO

Recognizing the lack of specialty-specific training available to rural healthcare providers, TexLa TRC has prioritized tailored Telemedicine ECHO programs that address these critical gaps. One key focus area is metabolic health, where chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease often go underdiagnosed or undertreated, especially in rural communities.

In March 2024, TexLa TRC launched the Metabolic West Texas Resonance ECHO (MeWRECHO), a targeted initiative aimed at supporting rural clinicians in navigating the complex intersection of diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease.

Through MeWRECHO, primary care teams acquired vital skills to more effectively screen, diagnose, and manage metabolic conditions. The curriculum emphasized both pharmaceutical and nutritional approaches to long-term disease management, empowering rural providers with the tools they need to deliver proactive, preventive care.
