Project ECHO
What is Project Echo?
Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a revolutionary model of collaborative education and care management that aims to democratize access to specialty knowledge and improve outcomes for underserved communities. Originally developed at the University of New Mexico in 2003, Project ECHO has evolved into a global movement, transforming how knowledge is shared and how healthcare, education, and public services professionals collaborate.
TexLa TRC ECHO Programs
Metabolic ECHO
Recognizing the lack of specialty-specific training available to rural healthcare providers, TexLa TRC prioritized tailored ECHO programs that address these critical gaps. One key focus area is metabolic health, where chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease often go underdiagnosed or undertreated, especially in rural communities.
Telemedicine ECHO
Our ECHO sessions are designed to address critical healthcare gaps by providing specialty-specific education in a collaborative, case-based format. Participants engage in interactive discussions, receive up-to-date clinical guidance, and share best practices – all without leaving their communities.
Dementia Care ECHO
The Dementia Care ECHO program is a tele-mentoring model designed to build the capacity of healthcare and community professionals in providing high-quality care for people living with dementia and their caregivers. It uses a hub-and-spoke model that connects dementia specialists (the “hub”) with primary care teams, long-term care staff, and community service providers (the “spokes”) through virtual sessions.
